Volunteers

Our volunteers make significant contributions to the facility, they provide relief for many of our departments, as well as provide a great support system for the Therapeutic Recreation department, as well as play a huge role in the lives of our residents.  They serve as companions, escorts and friends.  They are an essential part of caring for our residents. We rely on volunteers to help our staff in many of our programs.  When you volunteer you enable the nursing home to offer residents that “something extra” that lets them know how much we care about their health and well being.

Becoming a volunteer at GHNH can be a very rewarding experience; it can bring you great joy and self-esteem. Your talents and passion to help others will complement our professional staff ensuring that every resident's stay here is a pleasant one. Volunteering can also provide you with the opportunity to utilize your current skills or gain new and valuable ones.

WHO CAN VOLUNTEER?
Anyone who has a passion to help others —- if you have talents, skills and gifts that are just waiting to be used — you may be the person we are looking for. A volunteer can also be a student who is considering a future in health care and wants experience in the field before becoming heavily immersed in the education required. (Student volunteers must be at least 14 years old).

We hope you will consider joining our team and we are confident you will find your experience a rewarding one.  If you wish more information about our volunteer program, visit our Therapeutic Recreation/Volunteer Department and speak with the director, Ms. Zakeima Batson, or you may call her at 212-690-7400 ext. 230.
