GHNH&RC Activities and Recreation staff provides many innovative programs and events for our residents.  A recreation leader meets with residents to assess their skills and abilities, while also addressing their needs and paying special attention to each resident’s past and present recreation practices.  The activities are intended to help maximize the functional, social and psychological abilities of each resident.  In addition to holiday celebrations and regularly scheduled activities, residents have the opportunity to go on day outings.  Some of the most enjoyed are trips to Yankees Stadium, City Island, Atlantic City, sailing around New York on a boat cruise and dining out.  The Computer Lab Center is a recent addition to the Nursing Home.  Located in the nursing home’s day room, the computer center features 5 state of the art computers with flat-panel monitors. The keyboards are custom-made for users with limited sight.  Each computer is equipped with internet access, casino games, creative publishing programs and other recreational programs.  A large teaching monitor is also available for use in teaching residents how to operate the computers and how to navigate and enjoy the different programs available.
